Revisionist History
Here is a nice letter defending a group of students and their 1999 sit-in.
I wasn't at the sit-in, but I wrote about it. The letter has a link to a project I worked on after graduation. It's a project I'm glad to see is at least somewhat remembered (though the website isn't mentioned in the print version of the magazine).

just when i think i'm far enough away from my Colby experience to not get riled up anymore, something happens to rile me back up!
where can i get this book to read the whole account? where can i write a scathing letter to this guy and let him know? who even is this guy and where did he get his information? i never even had pam thoma!
for heaven's sake.
and by the way, it makes me happy that you wrote such a good and accurate account of what really happened.
He was the Dean of the College. I think he's retired. I interviewed him when I worked on that project, b/c he was the ranking 'historian' -- which means, old guy with lots of stories. He was also friends with Bill Cotter and, by 1999, incredibly jaded.
We just got something in the mail saying he's giving a talk about his book in SF soon. It's $20. $20! For alumni! To hear an old guy spout off about how we're idiots! $20!
of course it's $20. it's probably $25 for alumni of color and $30 alumni who don't remember colby with a fondness of heart.
but i think you should totally go and ask pointed questions to make everything awkward. i'll donate $10 towards the cause.
The website's mentioned in the print version. Cuz I immediately ran to my computer, typed it in, had severe flashbacks, and then was late meeting up with some friends.
